About Doodles

What Are Goldendoodles?

Goldendoodles are a hybrid of Golden Retrievers and Poodles. Known for their hypoallergenic coats and happy-go-lucky demeanors, they’ve become increasingly popular as family pets and working dogs. They’re extremely loyal, intelligent, loving, and playful by nature. Lauded for their gentle temperament, they tend to be fantastic with children, other dogs, and other animals alike.

Doodles are often easy to train because they are highly intelligent and eager to please their owners. Their train-ability also makes them popular as therapy and service dogs.

Doodles coats may be wavy, straight, or curly or any combination. They can feel like hair, like wool, or like fleece. Most all F1 doodles have wavy coat appearance. F1 doodles are good for people with mild to moderate allergies. F1B doodles and multi-generational doodles are recommended for people with moderate to severe allergies because they have the highest rate of being non-shedding.

Your Multi-generations will have the most virility in coat types!

Most will need professional grooming. We suggest what is called a “puppy cut.” If you like your doodle to have a long/full coat. You will need to brush often. We suggest every other day. If you do not groom regularly, matting will occur. If not groomed correctly, a groomer will have no choice but to shave your doodle down and start over! So make sure you brush regularly!

Goldendoodle Coats

Known for their hypoallergenic coats, Goldendoodles shed very little and make great pets for anyone who struggles with pet-related allergies. F1 Doodles (the offspring of a purebred Poodle and a purebred Golden Retriever) will reliably have wavy coats and are recommended for those with mild-moderate allergies..

F1B Doodles (the offspring of a Goldendoodle and either a Golden Retriever or Poodle) and Multigenerational Doodles (the offspring of two Golden Doodles) may have wavy, straight, curly, or combination coats that feel like hair, wool, or fleece. F1B and Multigenerational Doodles are recommended for those with moderate-severe allergies because they are progressively less likely to shed.

Goldendoodle Health & Lifespan

Combining two unrelated breeds leads to healthier offspring. The typical lifespan of a healthy goldendoodle is about 12-15 years.
